Renallen C. Neckles

MS Student

Renallen holds a B.S. in Environmental Engineering and was an NSF BioSMART REU intern at the New Jersey Institute of Technology, where he explored microbial biotechnology. He is currently both an NSF Graduate Research Fellow (GRFP) and a GEM Fellow, supporting his graduate work in microbiome engineering. His research focuses on plasmid competition within microbial communities, aiming to understand and design interactions that improve microbial performance in engineered systems. Beyond the lab, Renallen is passionate about STEM outreach, soccer, road trips, and book clubs, and he is actively involved in Koinonia fellowship and worship.
