Dr. Rachel Keener

Postdoctoral Research Associate

Rachel began her scientific training at the University of Georgia, where she earned a B.S. in Genetics in 2015. She went on to pursue graduate studies at Duke University, recently completing her Ph.D. in Genetics and Genomics. Her scientific interests include human and pathogen genomics, infectious disease monitoring, and improving global health. In May 2025, Rachel was awarded the Ferguson Fellowship in Emerging Infectious Diseases and began a one-year term in the Stadler Lab. Here, she will expand her knowledge in assay development and public health through monitoring emerging infectious disease threats and sexually transmitted infections in Houston wastewater. In her free time, Rachel enjoys playing sports, hiking, and doing various crafts.
