Zach LaTurner

PhD Student

Zach holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and has previously worked in roles ranging from environmental specialist to food preparation, including at the University of Washington in Seattle and Stericycle. His current research focuses on resource recovery from wastewater and food waste using anaerobic membrane bioreactors (AnMBRs). He is particularly interested in how operating conditions influence the effluent profiles of these systems and how those profiles can be optimized for downstream valorization. Outside the lab, Zach is an avid reader and music enthusiast. He also enjoys following his hometown teams — the Seattle Mariners and the Seattle Seahawks.
