Siyi Zhou
PhD Student
Siyi holds an M.S.E. in Geography and Environmental Engineering from Johns Hopkins University and a B.S. in Environmental Engineering from China. Her research focuses on microbial ecology and wastewater-based epidemiology. She is particularly interested in the role of horizontal gene transfer among environmental microbes in the spread of antimicrobial resistance (AMR), using advanced tools like environmental metagenomics and bioinformatics. Outside the lab, Siyi enjoys traveling, music, photography, and video games. She loves hanging out with friends, exploring Houston’s coffee shops, and goofing around with her cat.
